6x6 approval?

Ongelezen bericht door dieseldog »

Is it possible to get a 6x6 approved here?

Or would it have to be basically a brand new vehicle built by Special vehicles as a 6X6 to get a CoC?

Can anyone help with the rules for building kit cars and self built vehicles from existing components?

Any real help greatly received.

Theoretically it is possible to get a COC for a custom build, but you will have to go through an extensive homologation procedure, that will take a lot of time and even more money. And you'll have to pray they don't require a crashtest...
Kitcars are usually registered either as an oldtimer (old beetle chassis for example) or with the help of the kit car company, often via UK or Germany.
For those who never try, they are sure to fail (ManoWar)

I wondered for 6X6 as I have not seen a single one in Belgium in my almost 3yrs here!!

So there is a good chance of getting a DAKAR built and on the road over here as it is basically a Discovery or a RRC donor vehicle to begin with?

If the dakar is built on a RRC or disco chassis it wont be eassy to do the chassis are post '67. If you built the dakar on a series2 chassis it will be ok they are pre '67 even a 6x6 is ok then. Because there is no confirmation for those vehicles

Gonna try for a single vehicle assessment type thing in a years time, I am told that as long as the chassis is not altered between the wheels it could get through, the plan would be for a Defender so body type should not be an issue as it would be a pick up.

How the rules are strange in our little county of the EU
