Dodgy heater blower switch?

Ongelezen bericht door dieseldog »

If you are a Discovery 1 owner and you sometimes have an intermittent fault with your heater blower, please follow these instructions.

Remover center console and gear lever gaiters, remove the center fascia from the dash and if by wiggling the wires that go to the blower switch you can interrupt continuity then this could be your problem!!

The circled pin I believe to be the earth pin as it is connected within the switching circuit at almost all times!!
This can also be equally true for an intermittent fault with any of the three blower settings too.

I found this pin to be a loose fitting connection on the contact securing pin and I remedied this with a small punch and a soldering iron, first you have to dismantle the switch, noting which way up the contact faces go, and then once apart the contact face should be put on a sturdy surface and with a small hammer punch the joint tight again and to solder seal the connection, this was a simple job and took less than an hour from start to finish including coffee and waffles.

I hope this helps someone in the future.
