I need HEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLP!!!!!!!!!!
Hello,
I am new to LROCB but have been around landys nearly my whole life, so now here is the tricky bit!!!!
I want to buy a new project here in Belgium, I am English and fully expect some body to at least try and rip me off.
I found an old series LWB that needs a complete refurbishment, it appeals to me but I am told there are no papers for the truck!!! It is LHD but I dont want to buy a piece of iron for 600euro only to find its worth 120euro on the scrap mans weighbridge!!!!
If I legitimately purchased this truck, even without papers? Is it possible to register it here in Belgium?
I really hope for some good advice here guys and girls.
Many thanks in advance.
Nigel.

Re: I need HEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLP!!!!!!!!!!
When there ar no papers with the vehicle, then you just walk away.
Here is a topic from one of the members who bought a seriesIII lightweight with no papers, and it's nearly impossible to get it registered.
(But I believe he's succeeded just yet, after a verry long wile...).
You can always buy another wreck with papers, and restore that with the (good) bits and pieces from the paperless car.
But thats not so straight foreward.

Re: I need HEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLP!!!!!!!!!!
The only way to register a "no paper" vehicle needs the active involvement of the previous owner who registered that car : he/she must declare a loss of papers and with that declaration (from the police) he'll get copies you can use. If the previous owners is unknown (or refuses to collaborate) then walk away unless you intend to use the vehicle for parts.

600 euros won't buy you much of a series Landrover in Belgium.
Remember that the life of this world is but a sport and a passtime.

Re: I need HEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLP!!!!!!!!!!
I was looking at a winter project for something to do and to do something I like, but whats the point if I can't then use it once it is fully rebuilt?
I was looking for a wreck that needs a bit of attention and is relatively old and neglected but not beyond rescue, thought the price of it was too good to be true and figured it would be related to it not having papers, hence the reason why I asked on here in the first place.
I already own and run a 1998 3.9 V8 Discovery as my daily driver, and well it might be nice to occasionally throw the door tops off an old series for a trundle in the woods, tame I know but hey lifes what you make it.

Also watch out with "trundelling in the woods", because this is very restricted in Belgium...

Re: I need HEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLP!!!!!!!!!!
Well I am lucky enough to have good friends in the North of Limburg and they have ove 90Ha of private woodland and another 30+Ha of open grasslands so no "illegal wheeling" planned but I know exactly what you mean.
Learning my way round here in Hasselt but think it will be a little easier to know where to and where not to got once my policeman friend can sort out my mapping.
No more assistance on the need for papers, just bought a reasonable 1992 D1 200Tdi to enhance, should be a little more comfy than a series
